The idea for "Dribble" originally came about because I wanted to write about what it is like to be teenagers in the Midwest of today. I started by creating the flawed hero of the piece, J.J. Jones. J.J. desperately wants to make his high school's varsity basketball team and someday attend college. J.J. is not the most gifted basketball player in his high school so he has to work hard to improve his game skills...More on page A3.
